Well, it’s been a long time and several thousand miles since I wrote my last post. I’m back in Georgia now and should be getting back to “normal.” Whatever that is. But no, although I’ve adjusted to the 4 hours time difference, I haven’t adjusted to not being in Alaska. I don’t think I ever have. Everything seems strang, warm, muggy and green.
However, I will say that there is NOTHING like a beautiful Spring in this area. The regular tornado warnings aside, I have really been enjoying the burst of life and color. Tiny leaves popping out, flowers blooming neon. The intense angle of the light.
It’s supposed to get cold and (maybe) snow tonight so that will be a change. I haven’t been able to run Calypso since I got back so maybe I will finally have a chance!
I am already working on next year’s schedule and I keep changing it every five minutes. But I am currently looking into some major changes. More on this later.
I’m so glad to be with Calypso again but I deeply miss the dogs of Northern Sky. Saying goodbye to sweet Princess was probably the hardest. She is in her teens and, although she still enjoys runs, her age does show. I wish her the best but miss hugging her and playing with her. And then I think of Orion leaping into my arms, Chaps doing his “ready for food” dance, Helen barking but coming to say hello (she was starting to warm up to me), Smoky rolling around…I miss them. I miss Alaska. I miss it all.
