Well, I have decided to get Calypso used to being tethered for more than just a few minutes. The reason for this is because I plan to take her to Alaska this Winter and I can’t exactly carry my dog pen with me everywhere I go. She’s going to have to learn to be staked out.
I bought the stake pictured below at Lowe’s, thinking it looked good and sturdy.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. It won’t go into hard ground. If the ground is soft enough for it to go, it doesn’t hold the dog. I think this stake was probably designed for a chihuahua, not a husky.

Anyway, I’m taking the stake back to Lowe’s today. Guess it’s time to work out a plan B.

Yeah, I have found that those things are absolutely terrible. LOL.
So when are you going to Alaska? Sounds like a ton of fun. I am going to Montana next year; still not Alaska, but getting closer.

I’m hoping to get back to Alaska in February or March but I don’t have any firm plans yet. I have a couple of “job offers” - one from a sled dog kennel and one from a B&B that also has a sled dog kennel.
Where in Montana are you going? Are you going to work there?

No, not to work. Just to go on a fun trip with my Uncle and Aunt. We all want to check out the area, as it may be a possible location to move in the future. They would love to move there, and so would I! LOL More snow, more mushing!
We are going to do a two week “road trip” and check everything out.
Cheerful Trails,
Christian

Sounds like it will be fun! I went to Montana once when I was 10 and it’s an amazing place. I’m sure you’ll love it there.
