Sorry for the lack of entries lately…I have kept plenty busy with other things. But I figured I should at least write a quick update.
The first snow was followed by T-shirt weather for a couple of days and then it got colder. It snowed again last weekend. More than before but still not much. It was beautiful though and it was all over the trees. Joe was up for the weekend with his two dogs and we took a 4-mile scooter run through the snow. I had Calypso hooked up with Joker, one of the yearlings and they did pretty well. Joker was a bit distracted but ran well. Calypso was very happy to get out and run.
Calypso has moved out to the female yard, at least for now. I am pleased since she settled in very well and is doing fine on stakout. I didn’t know how she would react at first since she had only been tethered for short periods of time in Georgia but she took it in stride. She seems to be getting along with Kimber and Lightfoot, the two dogs next to her. I’ve seen her and Kimber playing happily and several times she has been sitting on the platform next to Lightfoot (I tried to take a picture of the two of them together on the platform but they jumped up, jumped off and then tried to jump on me).
We’ve started using booties now that the ground is frozen most mornings. This has created many new challenges, as well as chores. Some dogs wiggle so much that putting booties on them is very difficult, at least for me. Fortunately they are pretty easy to remove. Then the booties must be rinsed and strung out to dry in the evening.
Much of the weekend’s snow melted when the snow came out today but it was nice while it lasted. I hope there will be more soon!

Sounds like Winter is slowly but surely heading your way. The Dakotas got that 46 inches of snow last weekend. Calypso is fitting right in with the other dogs and will get some more exercise and footwork skills being in the dog yard! Putting those dog booties on can be frustrating! Happy trails, Dave

Hi Alice, Hope all is going well for you and the fur kids. I was looking at Cold Spot Feeds website site tonight and found that they added a new product called a bootie horn. Looks like what I saw at the 1999 ADMA Trade Fair and Symposium in Fairbanks. A ’shoe horn’ for putting on dog booties, check it out. Hope you are getting snow for your training runs. Happy snowy trails! Dave
