Training is going GREAT! Even though it was a little warm this evening, Calypso and I managed to have a good 2-mile scooter run. Yep, we’re doing 2-mile runs now. Calypso is enjoying them and I am having a good time too. The other day, we ran on a nearby trail that looked deceptively easy. It turned out to be more difficult than I expected but it was still fun. It closed the next day for a deer hunt but should be open again in a week or so.
Two days ago, I ran a crazy loop trail that ran below our neighbors’ houses. NOT doing that again because our neighbors have free-running dogs that throw a fit if they see us. And, even worse, whenever Calypso sees strange dogs having hysterics about the fact that she’s on their territory, she puts on a big show of “marking.” It drives the other dogs nuts and I was actually a little scared for a minute or so. But it all turned out okay.
I’m still running on foot in the mornings and I can feel myself getting into shape. I had to stop the canicross runs with Calypso though. She is so strong and wants to run so fast that I couldn’t control her anymore and I was in danger of being pulled over.
Instead, I am taking Wilson the hound. Willy needs to lose weight but he’s not too sure about why he’s wearing that harness:

However, Wilson is doing amazingly well, considering. I think he enjoys the runs too. He just doesn’t understand why we can’t stop to sniff every interesting rock.
